L&Q Estates to promote the creation of a new community on the south east edge of Leicester

Leading development and place-making specialist L&Q Estates is to promote the creation of a new community on the south east edge of Leicester.

The company has reached agreement with a single landowner to promote the new community on 534 acres of land with a view to gaining inclusion in the next Harborough District plan.

The site has potential to deliver up to 4,000 new homes – a proportion of which would be affordable – along Garden Village principles which would include the provision of schools, community facilities and green spaces as well as employment land.

Adrian Clack, Group Land Director at L&Q Estates, said: “The site is strategically well located to allow for the provision of much-needed new housing to serve the South Leicester and Market Harborough area, and is well placed for the road network.

“We are specialists in guiding sites from conception through to completion and in helping to deliver sustainable communities across the UK that serve the country’s housing needs.

“This is the first stage in us promoting the site and it is therefore very early days but we look forward to working and liaising very closely with the local community and the relevant authorities as we look to bring our proposals  forward and into the local plan.”

Shakespeare Martineau represented L&Q Estates.  Strutt & Parker and Hewitsons represented the landowner.

L&Q Estates is one of the UK’s largest developers and promoters of residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.

It has been identifying, promoting and acquiring land for over 60 years and has built an enviable track record of delivery to assemble land, promote and secure planning permissions allowing the creation of new communities.

L&Q Estates is part of the L&Q Group, which is one of the UK’s leading housing associations and developers which owns and manages more than 110,000 homes nationwide.
