Work on developing over 140 homes at a new community in the Western Expansion Area of Milton Keynes will get underway in early 2023.
Leading UK strategic land developer L&Q Estates has sold a further two parcels of land to Bellway as part of the overall scheme, which is set to transform the area.
The housebuilder will create 142 homes on the six-acre site which will feature one and two-bedroom apartments, as well as two, three and four-bedroom homes and will include 30 per cent affordable housing. This development will complement the existing parcels purchased by Bellway last year, delivering these homes in addition to the 452 already under contract.
The new homes will be part of the Western Expansion Area, which is an 864-acre site allocated for development by Milton Keynes Council as part of its Local Plan in 2005.
Outline planning permission was given in 2007 for a total of 6,500 new homes, with 4,400 in the Whitehouse area along with new schools and community facilities.
Adrian Clack, Managing Director at Warwick-based L&Q Estates, said the new homes would add to the ongoing Bellway development, focused around Calverton Green and incorporating L&Q Estates’ place making philosophy.
He said: “The latest parcels of land that we have sold to Bellway are adjacent to Calverton Lane and Watling Street, wrapping around the soon to be delivered Calverton Green which shall create a real focal point for this area of the Western Expansion Area.
