We are creating an 850 acre sustainable community on the west side of Milton Keynes, which perfectly illustrates our role as master developer.
We worked with a total of eight land owners to promote and progress the
planning application. Our unique approach to servicing the site with
infrastructure and community facilities prior to the sale of “oven ready”
parcels is clearly demonstrated in the success of this development.
This urban extension to Milton Keynes will deliver 6,550 homes, including
30 per cent affordable housing, in an area which is within easy reach of
the A5 and M1 while Milton Keynes town centre is less than ten minutes
by car and its main rail line means London is only 35 minutes away,
making this a popular place to live for commuters.
L&Q Estates has, to date, invested £25 million in infrastructure to create
schools, open spaces, cycle routes and public transport links.
All of the amenities will be within a 5 to 10-minute walk as we develop a
community where families can live, work, learn and play.
Fairfields Primary School opened in September 2017, just 12 months after Whitehouse Primary School welcomed its first intake of pupils. A secondary school is expected to open in 2021.
L&Q Estates has undertaken a massive engineering project including delivering a huge flood protection reservoir which will have a positive environmental impact, providing surface and storm water drainage and a haven for local wildlife. To ensure that a truly sustainable community is developed the site proposal includes 20 hectares of employment land.
“Avoiding the temptation to fall back on traditional delivery methods, they have embraced the ‘infrastructure first’ model favoured by Milton Keynes Council and were one of the first partners in our tariff programme.”
